After Photo Scratch – from Rob Stothard

Photo Scratch was a great opportunity to present the photographic element of a collaborative project. The nature of the event gave me both the confidence and space to present a lot of images with limited explanation; this drew a lot of encouraging responses to my questions about what accompanying elements one would expect to see in the project’s published form. It was also important for the photographs to be evaluated individually rather than as an element of the eventual project; where a project contains a lot of text and data it can be easy to regard the images as secondary to or bolstered by said information.

Without giving too much away at this stage what I took away from Photo Scratch is that the photographic element of this project is asking the intended questions of ourselves rather than simply illustrating creative and / or factual text.
